Vaxdyn’s management team includes members with both scientific and business expertise. 

  • Juan José Infante Viñolo Ph.D.
    Dr. Infante Viñolo has served as CEO of Vaxdyn since November 2013. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry with specialization in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Cádiz in Spain. He has 4 years of postdoctoral experience at the University of Washington Medical School in Seattle, USA. After his postdoctoral experience, he served as CSO of Bionaturis, a biotechnology company specialized in biological drug development and manufacturing for human and animal health.

  • Juan Domínguez Herrera Ph.D.
    Dr. Domínguez Herrera is the Project Manager & Service Manager of Vaxdyn since July 2014. He obtained his B.S. degree in Biology and his Ph.D. in Biomedicine from the University of Seville in Spain. His previous work has included the development of several projects focused on developing new therapeutic alternatives against multidrug resistant pathogen. He has 7 years of experience in the development of experimental models of infection and resistant mechanisms of bacteria. 

  • Michael McConnell M.D., Ph.D.
    Dr. McConnell is currently an investigator in the Institute for Biomedical Research in Seville as part of the Infectious Disease Service at the University Hospital Virgen del Rocío. He obtained his B.S. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame in the United States. He subsequently obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Michigan, United States. He has eight years of experience in the vaccine development field. His previous work has included the development of a vaccine for rapid vaccination against anthrax at the University of Michigan Medical School. He currently is the lead investigator in the development of a vaccine for Acinetobacter baumannii at the University Hospital Virgen del Rocío.

  • Pilar Pérez-Romero Ph.D.
    Dr. Pérez-Romero is the principal investigator of the Virology Research Laboratory in the Infectious Disease Service at the University Hospital Virgen del Rocío. She obtained her B.S. degree in Biology and her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Seville in Spain. Her previous work has focused on the characterization of viral infections and their immune response. She is a member of the Spanish Network for AIDS Investigation, the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and the American Society for Virology. She has directed numerous research projects in her laboratory.

  • Jerónimo Pachón M.D., Ph.D.
    Dr. Pachón is currently the Principal Investigator of the Infectious Diseases research group at the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS). He has worked in the area of antimicrobial resistance for more than 20 years during which he has led numerous projects investigating bacterial infections. He obtained his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Seville in Spain. He has over 35 years of clinical experience and has participated in the design and analysis of numerous clinical trials. Furthermore, Dr. Pachón is a member of the Infectious Diseases Service of University Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Seville and Professor of Medicine at the University of Seville.
